Conceiving Queer
2022 and ongoing
What is the experience of trying to conceive while queer? How might design improve it?
A design research-focused project that leveraged interview and survey responses of 118 queer people assigned female at birth, Conceiving Queer sought to improve access to queer-specific resources and information about trying to conceive.
Final works reflected the myriad challenges of a queer trying-to-conceive experience and highlighted the invisibility of this particular narrative in our hetero-dominant culture. Through design system intervention—especially as we start to see this design at scale—couples will be able to more easily navigate the conception journey from initial decision making to choosing a donor to insemination.
